Leslie Hattemer, Owner & Founder

Leslie Hattemer has been an educator for 30 years. Prior to becoming a school counselor, she worked as a homeless liaison and a middle school English teacher. Leslie is passionate about equity with regard to college access and ensuring affordability for all students and has years of experience helping students find affordable ways to attend college. 

Leslie is a member of ASCA (American School Counselor Association and NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) For the aspiring athlete, she (is well versed in)has knowledge of the NCAA, NAiA, NJCAA and NIL. Whether your child plans on playing basketball at a junior college or attending in Ivy League school she can help find the right path. 

What sets her apart… 

While many college counselors have no formal training or have taken only a few classes in college counseling, Leslie has a master’s degree and has completed 600 hours of working directly with students prior to graduating and working in the field. Leslie is highly trained and comes to you with years of service, operating within three domains: academic, social /emotional and college and career. This means she is uniquely qualified to work with the whole child. 

Gaining admittance to and being prepared for the right college doesn’t happen without considering all of these complex factors. Those who have worked with Leslie have benefited from expert, individually tailored, proactive guidance, helping each client create and navigate a  path to meet collegiate goals and the readiness to succeed. Her supportive and comforting style make navigating this complicated process manageable and confidence building.

In 2022 Leslie’s family created The Leslie M. Hattemer Scholarship Fund to support University of Cincinnati’s 1MPACT House. Through this foundation, Cincinnati Public School students will be awarded need based scholarships to help offset the cost of living on campus. This fund will also provide support and services to ensure a consistent college experience throughout the duration of their undergraduate years. 10% of all revenue generated from Your School Counselor will go to the scholarship fund.

Hayden Ginder, Essay Specialist
Hayden is freelance journalist and copywriter based in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in May 2022 with a degree in Magazine, News, and Digital Journalism and has bylines featured in POPSUGAR, The List, and Something Navy.
